About this blog

Life Allows is about life—an obvious statement, yet worth reiterating none the less. It’s about living and learning, and sharing what you discover. It’s about practical, down-to-earth tips on how to get ahead in life, one baby step at a time. It’s about five point lists, because it has been said that five is within the “magic number” range of our capacity to process information. Short, unsweetened, and real. That’s Life Allows.

Why should this interest me, anyway?

Too many of us live life on auto-pilot. We float around aimlessly for the first twenty or thirty years of our life, unsure of what we want to do with the rest of it. Once we pass that point, we spend the greater part of our lifetime working so “one day we don’t have to”. We can’t control our emotions, we can’t get things done, we’re overworked, overstressed, underpaid, and underappreciated. 2 out of 3 of us are also overweight.

If you don’t take control your mind and body, chances are someone or something else will. If you don’t have a plan for your life, chances are you’ll end up in someone else’s. Is that how you really want to live your life? Constantly fulfilling someone else’s dream, making other people rich, successful and fulfilled, but never reaching that level yourself?

I didn’t, and that decision is what brought me here today.

Not another personal development blog!

There are millions of publications and websites on the subject of personal development and self-mastery, so what makes this one any different from the rest? Observe, a short list:

  1. It’s real. I only write and recommend tips, techniques, and ways that I myself practice, or have learned from. I’m not a super human. I have flaws. If I can do it, anyone can.
  2. It’s easy to digest. Most people don’t have the time to read another long-winded blog on things they think they don’t think they have time for in the first place. Life Allows only comes in two forms: Daily tips (150 words or less) and five point lists. Daily tips are small enough to grab on the go. Five-point lists are easy to squeeze into your busy lifestyle.

About the author

I’m Chanel; a Vancouver-based entrepreneur, writer, student, and human. I’m not perfect, all-knowing or genius; in fact, the only thing that makes me qualified to write anything on life is the very fact that I’m living and learning. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve done things the wrong way, but I’ve learned, am learning, and will continue to learn… And what I learn, I share. Life Allows is my life project: It began when I was born and will wrap up when I do.
